SUBJECT:Kern County Fair Art Display
Plans are underway for the Children’s Art Display at the Kern County Fair. Information and forms for the Kern County Fair Art entries are enclosed.
GUIDELINES:
1. Submit the best 2 or 3 entries from any one teacher/class. Entries should be varied media.
2. Please submit entries for grade levels Preschool, K-8 and Special Education. Only one entry per student wanting to participate will be accepted.
3. Art works should be original in color and design. Avoid completion-type projects.
4. The children’s art will be displayed according to the grade level
DELIVERY OF ENTRIES: All art entries should be submitted to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools by May 12, 2008. Each entry must be accompanied by an entry form, which is enclosed with this letter. Entry forms and instruction guidelines are enclosed. (Forms may be copied if needed.) A Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office "Art Entry" tag must be filled out and firmly attached to the front and to the back of each entry.
Entries for the Kern County Fair must be delivered on or before May 12, 2008, to Ed Hughes at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office, 2000 K Street, University Square Building, 5th floor.

PREPARATION OF ENTRIES: Art entries need to be matted. Do not submit entries in frames. Do not use expensive mats; the entries will be stapled for display. Schools should submit their work in an art folder or in a carton or wrapped marked with the school’s name in ink. Three-dimensional art pieces (including paper-maché) will not be accepted due to transportation, storage and display constraints.
The Kern County Fair opens on September 17, 2008 and runs through September 28, 2008. The artwork will be installed on September 15, 2008 and judging will take place on September 16. Awards will be presented on Children’s Day at the Fair, September 24 at 10:30 a.m. Removal of the artwork will be on September 29, 2008.
