About the Coordinator
The coordinator for Visual and Performing Arts is Ed Hughes. He has a Masters Degree in Educational Administration, Masters Degree in Music Education, and a Bachelors Degree in Music. He has an Administrative Services Credential, a Standard Administration Credential and Standard Teaching Credential, Secondary. Ed Hughes coordinates various activities in Visual and Performing Arts including the It's a Grand Night for Music, Honor Music Festival, Kern County Fair Art and Young People's Concerts.
Ed Hughes served as state Chair for the California Alliance For Arts Education, State Board of Directors, 1994-1996. He also served on the National Governance Committee for the Kennedy Center Alliance For Arts Education in Washington DC 1996-1998. Additional service included the Instructional Materials Evaluation Panel, California State Department of Education, Textbook Adoption Committee, 1986 and 1989. In addition to Visual and Performing Arts, he also coordinates the Kern County Academic Decathlon, the Division Scholarship programs, Small School Districts Consortium, and Distinguished Schools.
